Our History

Dove Weddings was founded in the spring of 2001. We specialize in the art of filmmaking and story telling. Spinning off of a larger commercial documentary film company, and cutting our teeth working with clients like Lucas Films, Microsoft, and Dell, has given us a unique background in story telling. These experiences are constantly pushing us to create even more amazing and unique wedding films. We aren’t a large company interested in world domination, but instead we keep things very close to home, only taking a limited number of engagements each year. Whether fun, silly, serious, adventurous, heartwarming, or all of the above, you can have “Your Story” captured in all the magic of a classic Hollywood Film. We are also available for worldwide travel.

What Do We Bring?

At DW we use only the best equipment available to “Tell Your Story”. Currently we come out to your location, with a combination of tools such as our Super 35mm Digital Cinema Cameras (Canon C100), set up with professional “L” Series and cinema lenses. This isn’t your neighbors DSLR. These cameras have almost twice the dynamic range of a DSLR and with a 4K images sensor you get only the most beautiful images. Translation… “Your shots look crazy good!!”.  Tripods & monopods are pretty standard issue for us. We always bring several cinematic tools like our glide-cams, steadi-cam and sometimes our jib. If your wedding calls for it, we can even come out with some pretty insane gear like motorized sliders and motion tracking systems. We have even been known on occasion to bring our large 18′ crane (at your request). That crane is great if your wedding entrance has you coming in on the back of an elephant (I’m totally serious, it happens!).  We have  some really fun tricks up our sleeves, with our cinema quad-copter rig for those incredible high value shots. While we have the gear and talent here at DW, to bring even the largest scale production to your event, we are also know to be one of the lowest profile teams out there. People often refer to our team as the “NINJAS“. We constantly get asked, “How did you get that shot? I never even noticed you were there!”. We not only stay out of the way and are hardly noticed by your guests, but we also have a great reputation of working very well with other vendors. We are a preferred vendor by many of the best photographers in Southern California, for this reason. We are also a preferred vendor at many of Southern California’s top resorts.

We are excited to travel nationally and worldwide for both single day and multiple day events. We are fully insured and carry over $4M in liability.  We have never found a venue or country we couldn’t work in.

What Should I Budget For Cinema & Photo?

Well… this is a question we get asked often. You can find a wedding film out there for $1500, because the person who will do it is either a part time wedding amateur looking for some weekend money, or they may be new in the business trying to break in. There is also the large wedding “FACTORY” companies that just turn and burn your film. In many cases these companies aren’t even local to Southern California, and they use whatever shooters they can find on CraigsList, with little to no training or quality control. I don’t know about you, but all of that concerns me! We don’t fit into any of the above, and I am sad to say that we simply put too much time and consideration into your film to be able to do it for $1500. Here is what you can look forward to with us. We are a small boutique company, that has been around since 2001, and knows how to take care of it’s couples. We will promise to take the time to get to know you, and learn what is important to you. We listen to our couples and make sure they are really excited about working with us. From moment one we will stay connected, attentive, and focused on “TELLING YOUR STORY”! So, if you truly care about your film and want something rather unique and tailored just for the two of you, then let’s talk about what it will take to capture your memories forever in an unforgettable way. A typical cinema package from us starts in the $3k range and photo packages in the high $2K. So while it isn’t $1500 it will be a modestly balanced package (not over priced) but tailored JUST FOR YOU.
